Cynthia Messmer, Ph.D. is a 1965 graduate of Brown University .  Her graduate work was done at West Virginia College of Graduate Studies and Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her PhD in public policy in 1991.  Dr. Messmer served as Associate Dean for Admissions for VCU's School of Medicine until July of 2006 when she retired.  Prior to joining VCU in 1986, Dr. Messmer's career included work as a clinic administrator for the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for 3 years, then as a Director of Financial Aid for 3 years, and Director of Alumni and Physician Placement for 4 years.  Her title with Family Medicine is Coordinator of Graduate Programs and she will work closely with Dr. Kuzel on the departmental newsletter.  She will serve with the department for 2.5 days per week.
