Virginia Mapping Project
The Virginia Mapping Project is developing a census of nonprofit organizations operating in Virginia (estimated at over 40,000) and employing GIS mapping technology to graphically display the geographic disbursement of these organizations. This information about the size and scope of the sector will be useful to a number of audiences, including legislators, funders, volunteers, and activists. Currently, a pilot project is underway to map the Richmond metropolitan statistical area.
